Panorama Mesdag For his new collection, young and successful local fashion designer Michael Barnaart van Bergen (1983) was inspired by the bewildering Panorama Mesdag, the 'mother' of virtual reality. Panorama Mesdag is the oldest panorama in the world, which is still situated on its original location. In 1881, artist Hendrik Willem Mesdag painted his view on the sea, the dunes, Scheveningen en The Hague in 360 degrees, thus creating the largest painting in the Netherlands.
